How EastLake Marketing Group Began

How It All Began.

I started EastLake Marketing Group after being fired from a 20+ year corporate job. I was forty-something when this happened, so you can imagine I panicked.

How do I start over at forty-one?

I came to the conclusion that I never wanted to be fired again. I started my business in 2010 with the $58,000 settlement money I was awarded. I sued the corporate giant. My boss fired me while I was on Worker's Comp. Not knowing that you cannot legally do this to an employee. What I thought was the worse event of my life, turned into a blessing. That seed money kept me afloat until I began making a profit.

It's been 15 years since I became an entrepreneur, and let me tell you, I love every minute of being my own boss. It was the best decision I ever made regarding my career. Instead of continuing to be an employee and make another corporation millions I chose to focus on building my own empire.

Now don't get it confused. Running a marketing agency is hard work. I worked my tail off during the early years. I still work 6 days a week. I have to, I've got a long list of clients that pay me their hard-earned money to market their businesses. I truly love helping them grow their startup micro businesses. I keep my overhead low, I don't have employees, I work with freelancers and independent contractors.

My business has been listed twice in the Sacremento Business Journal. EastLake Marketing Group ranked number 24 on the Advertising Agency Book of List in 2020 and ranked number 21 on the Minority Owned Businesses Book of List in 2024. My goal is to help as many solopreneur micro businesses as I can with marketing their products and services. Ultimately, I'd like to free folks from their corporate jobs, become their own bosses, and help them to stay in business beyond the startup phase.
